ASCE/COPRI Awards

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is now accepting nominations for COPRI's three awards for professional achievement. The deadline for nominations is November 1.

COPRI Awards

The COPRI Governing Board has approved a new Project Excellence Award! The deadline for nominations is extended to June 1, 2009!

• COPRI Project Excellence Award

This award is given annually for an innovative project in coastal, port, riverine, waterways, or wetlands engineering. Established in 2007, the award is intended to give professionals within COPRI's disciplines the opportunities to gain national recognition for their work.

• Kenneth M. Childs Jr. Practitioner's Award

This award, offered by COPRI's Ports and Harbors Committee, was developed in memory of Kenny Childs Jr.. A longtime member of COPRI, and its preceding technical group, as well as the Ports & Harbors Committee, Childs was known on the Ports & Harbors Committee for his effort which served the needs of its members, the engineering profession, and the nation. members recall that Kenny was always professional, but tireless in his efforts to challenge the status quo and create positive change.  His efforts did not diminish with age, but rather his influence increased as he stayed abreast of current events and became the senior statesman for the Committee and his profession.  Applications for this award will be accepted by the Ports and Harbors Committee.
