In a continuing effor to highlight our Institute's Organizational Members, this article is the fifht in a periodic series of profiles.

nciNoble Consultants, Inc. (NCI) is a civil engineering firm that specializes in the coastal, structural, harbor, riverine and hydraulic engineering fields with offices in northern and southern California.  All NCI principals and staff have specialized during their entire careers in providing engineering services on marine projects, with NCI principals having as much as 40 plus years of marine engineering experience. Our firm’s general experience includes siting, planning, surveying, permitting, design, final design/specifications, and construction management of civil works projects. 

Specific project work tasks that have been performed include initial site investigations and consultation; field monitoring and data collection; hydrologic and coastal analyses (flood levels, flood routing, wave dynamics, beach processes, tides, currents, sedimentation, etc.); development of hydrologic and coastal design criteria; numerical modeling; planning and design of hydrologic and coastal structures (flood barriers, dikes, shore protection, beach replenishment, wetlands restoration, groins, breakwaters, navigation improvements, marina layouts/berthing, piers, docks, waterfront bulkheads, etc.); preparation of construction drawings, specifications and bid documents; planning reports; cost-benefit analysis; project cost estimates; environmental impact concerns; construction inspection and monitoring; and post-construction monitoring. 

Projects have been performed for government agencies, corporate industry and private individuals along coastal shorelines, estuaries, bays, lagoons, reservoirs, lakes, rivers and inland waterways throughout the United States and the world. Some recent projects include: preparation of Coastal Regional Sediment Management Plan for Santa Barbara & Ventura Counties; feasibility study for Sacramento & Stockton deep water ship channel; design & regulatory permit processing for Casino fuel pier in Avalon Harbor; wave & current field measurements and numerical modeling of wave transmission through the Dana Point Harbor breakwater; San Francisquito Creek hydraulic modeling & floodplain mapping; Guadalupe River risk & uncertainty analysis; San Joaquin Marsh enhancement design; water use & marina dock plans for Burton Chace Park peninsula in Marina del Rey; and design of USCG replacement anchored bulkhead in Newport Harbor.
